Hey everyone! In this post I’ll be discussing our favorite non-sugary Easter basket stuffers. We typically don’t buy a ton of candy or sweets for our toddler’s Easter basket for a few different reasons, so these are some fairly cheap ideas for other families who would prefer to do the same!
Easter Basket Idea #1: Books
Our son LOVES reading books, so we always incorporate one or two in his Easter basket. Our absolute favorite book that we have turned into a family tradition of reading every year is “The Story of the Easter Bunny” by Katharine Tegen. It explains how the Easter Bunny came to be and we absolutely love it. You can find it here.
Other books that would be great basket stuffers are:
- “Happy Easter, Pout-Pout Fish” by Deborah Diesen
- “Hop! Hop!” by Leslie Patricelli
- “Llama Llama Easter Egg” by Anna Dewdney
- “The Tale of Peter Rabbit” by Beatrix Potter
- “Bright Baby Touch and Feel Easter” by Roger Priddy
Easter Basket Idea #2: Bath Supplies and Toys
For this year’s Easter basket, we wanted to get our son a couple more bath toys because he doesn’t have very many. We actually threw out a lot of them because we had the kind that squirt water and didn’t realize how much bacteria could grow in those. I highly recommend staying away from bath squirters, rubber ducks, etc. for that reason.
However, we did find some pretty cool bath tablets from Crayola that change the color of the bath water. I’m sure our kiddo will love them. Find yours here. Another fun option would be bubble bath solution. Our favorite is this one from the brand Baby Bum. It’s made for sensitive skin, which is nice!
Other Fun Bath Options Include:
- Bath books, such as this cute Disney one.
- This octopus ring toy from Nuby.
- This toy boat set from Munchkin.
- These foam tub animals from Melissa and Doug.
- Bathtub fingerpaint soaps like these ones from Crayola.
Easter Basket Idea #3: Teethers
Teethers can be super helpful if your kiddo hasn’t gotten all of their teeth yet. Here is a list of our Easter favorites:
- This carrot teether from Infantino
- This bunny teether from LittleFoot Nation
- This egg teether and clip from Dino Eggie
Easter Basket Idea #4: New Toothbrush, Toothpaste or Other Necessities
We typically always do a toothbrush for Christmas stockings, but most people don’t replace their toothbrush often enough. So, we figured we wanted to give one in the Easter basket too.
The toothbrush we are getting this year is so cool! It’s a Baby Shark toothbrush, which we know our son is gonna love because it’s one of his favorite characters. This BriteBrush toothbrush plays the Baby Shark song, plays games while your kiddo brushes their teeth, and rates how long and how effective their teeth brushing was! It’s pretty cool. And the replacement heads are only $10 for a three pack.
Other Ideas for Necessity Gifts:
- This strawberry flavored kid’s fluoride toothpaste from Hello.
- This wooden comb and brush set from Green Sprouts
- This orange-vanilla baby shampoo and body wash from Honest Co (which smells AMAZING.)
Easter Basket Idea #5: Coloring Books and Crayons
This one is a great, budget friendly option because at this age, fine motor and problem solving skill development is crucial. You can pick up a coloring book super cheap at the dollar store, but I highly recommend these egg shaped crayons. They’re easy for little hands to hold onto, and the egg shape is perfect for Easter!
Easter Basket Idea #6: Summer Clothes or Toys
Easter is the perfect time to stock up on the summer essentials your kiddo will need for the upcoming summer months! Sunglasses, summer hats, swim suits, pool toys, sprinklers, sunscreen, etc. would all make great Easter gifts!
Here’s a list of some of our favorite summer essentials:
- This 2 pack of sunglasses from Bib-on.
- This pool floaty by Free Swimming Baby.
- These hats from Sarfel that come in a variety of sizes and colors.
- This round inflatable kiddie pool from Vivi Mao.
- This sprinkler and splash pad by Banzai.
- This pure and free cream sunscreen with 50 SPF by Neutrogena.
- This facial sunscreen stick by Baby Bum
Easter Basket Idea #7: Movies or CDs
When I was younger, we would receive a new movie in our Easter basket. I always really looked forward to this because then we could watch our new Easter movies that night. I remember one of the first Easter movies I got when this tradition started was Harry Potter!
Here are some of the movies I am thinking about getting:
We also really like lullaby CDs. These would make for a great Easter basket stuffer! We use an old school CD player in kiddo’s room for his nap time lullabies just to change things up a bit. Our favorite CDs are from the brands Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock Star and Rockabye Baby.
Here are some of our favorite lullaby CDs that we’ve gotten:
- Lullaby Versions of Metallica
- Rockabye Baby! Queen
- Lullaby Versions of Disney Classics
- Lullaby Versions of Korn
- Rockabye Baby! Journey
Easter Basket Idea #8: Experience Gifts
Experience gifts are my absolute favorite for any special occasion. Rather than toys that kids will outgrow or break or lose, I would much rather we get to go do something as a family. Making lasting memories is so important. Here are some of our favorite ideas for experience gifts:
- Build A Bear Gift Card
- Zoo or Aquarium Tickets
- Museum Tickets
- Ice Cream Gift Card
- Cold Stone Creamery
- Baskin Robbins
- Taking a Toddler Class
- Music – I highly recommend Little Sprouts Music Together classes!!
- Swimming Lessons
- Movie Tickets
Easter Basket Idea #9: Developmental Toys
There are lots of great toys for kiddos this age that help with skill development! Feel free to check my post here for lots of ideas. But one type of toy that we don’t have yet is a bead and string toy. Being able to put objects on a string is one of the skills focused on for the 24 month check up (if your pediatrician uses the ASQs). For this reason, we got this chunky bead kit from Melissa and Doug.
Other great toy ideas are:
- Pull along toys, such as this Fisher-Price Lil Snoopy toy
- This game of matching Easter eggs by Toomies.
- Play-doh
Easter Basket Idea #10: Meal Time Supplies
Easter is the perfect time to replace meal time supplies such as bibs, toddler plates, bowls, cups, cutlery, etc. Check out the list below for our favorites!
- These Bumkins character bibs with characters like Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
- These Bumkins plates.
- This set of open cups by EztoTz.
- These bowls from Munchkin.
- These anti-spill snack catchers from Munchkin.
- These baby food pouch covers by EasyPouch Independence.
- These Munchkin silicone placemats.
A Brief Summary:
In our family, we don’t want candy to be the only thing our toddler receives for holidays. By looking more into what necessities we need to replace, what memories we can make, what books or movies would be fun to look at, and what toys will help my child grow, we are able to mostly stay away from sugary treats. We find these things to be much more enjoyable than a food that’s gobbled up and gone in 5 minutes!

For a new one year old walker – I found a walking push-toy “Duck” that has waffle feet and makes a waffle noise. I found it at Meijer store in Michigan. My just one year old grandson Loves it. I don’t know what company makes it. I also found it at a Walmart store. It’s darling. Comes in yellow and white color!
That sounds adorable! I’ve seen similar ones that look like frogs that are super cute and would also be great for Easter baskets. Great idea!
Great ideas. Thanks for sharing.
You’re so welcome! I hope you find some new ideas for your family!
